Welcome from the President

On behalf of the administration, faculty, staff, and students of Kapaun Mt. Carmel Catholic High School, I warmly welcome you. This website is designed to help you learn more about our school, our mission, and the vibrant community life that happens each day at KMC.

Our Mission

Kapaun Mt. Carmel is a diocesan Catholic high school serving nearly 900 students. With a legacy of excellence that spans more than 130 years, we are honored to partner with parents, parishes, and the Catholic Diocese of Wichita to form young people in the image of Jesus Christ.

Our mission is simple and clear: dedicated tothe education and formation of the total person in the image of Christ. Every philosophy, policy, prayer, and curriculum choice at KMC is intentionally aligned with this mission. We believe true excellence comes from cultivating the whole person—mind, heart, body, and spirit.

Excellence in All Areas

Our students embrace this call to holistic formation and respond with dedication and success. Recent achievements include:

  • Governor’s Achievement Award, recognizing performance in the top 5% of all Kansas high schools

  • The Catholic Culture Award from the Catholic Diocese of Wichita

  • 19 National Merit Finalists in the last five years

  • A strong tradition of appointments to U.S. Military Academies

  • Our school’s 119th state championship in athletics

  • State and national recognition in music, studio art, journalism and theater

Faith in Action

Formation at KMC extends beyond the classroom. Each year, our students contribute more than 15,000 hours of service to families, parishes, Catholic Charities, and the broader community. They embrace the call to discipleship by feeding the hungry, serving the poor, and supporting those in need.

We are deeply rooted in the spirituality of stewardship - the belief that all is gift, and that we are called to place these gifts at the service of God and neighbor. This spirit of generosity is reflected in the 13 KMC alumni currently in formation for the priesthood or religious life, a source of profound pride for our community.

An Invitation

We are grateful for your interest in Kapaun Mt. Carmel Catholic High School and in the mission that guides us. Please continue to pray for all those engaged in the education and formation of our nation’s young people.

May God continue to bless Kapaun Mt. Carmel, and may His grace be with our families, faculty, staff, students, friends, and visitors.

Go Crusaders!
