Pathways

Inspired by the Career Cluster Pathway Program of Study Application (CPPSA) by the Kansas Department of Education, Kapaun Mt. Carmel's curriculum pathways are intended to help students foster interests in different career areas, and help them proceed through a series of courses throughout their high school career.

"Our goal is to provide students an opportunity to discover their God-given talents through the exploration of the pathways that have been expressed in our curriculum," Principal Chris Bloomer said. "Each pathway is designed to identify a specific interest and see it matured to its fullest so that students discover their true gifts."

The courses begin with introductory courses in a particular subject and continue through a culminating course.

“The pathways are designed to project students towards college and a career,” said counselor Jim Flax in a 2016 Paladin article. “The pathways also make sure that KMC offers a variety of classes that appeal to different interests."

The pathways are merely for academic guidance; students who choose to progress through a particular pathway are not bound to its course schedule.

“If you are interested in medicine then [you should] take the St. Gianna track,” Flax said. “Then we would set you up to take the classes that are going to help in that particular area.”

There are seven academic tracks, or pathways, at KMC. Click on the graphic below for more information.
