Academic Awards
Several awards and honors are available to graduating seniors at Kapaun Mt. Carmel. Most are awarded during the Convocation or Graduation exercises, or are given special recognition in the graduation program.
Valedictorian: This designation is given to the senior who earns the highest Grade Point Average (GPA).
Salutatorian: This designation is given to the senior who earns the second highest GPA.
Bishop David M. Maloney Award: The Bishop David M. Maloney Award for Scholastic Excellence is given to a student who excels academically, has strong moral values and leadership abilities, and who is active in their parish life.
Bishop's Crest Award: The Bishop’s Crest Award for Excellence in Development of the Full Human Potential is given to the student who over the four years of high school has applied himself/herself to take full advantage of the educational and formation opportunities, including physical, religious, spiritual, moral, and emotional development. This individual has made the greatest movement from the beginning of high school through graduation.
Bill Doyle: The Bill Doyle Memorial Award is presented to an outstanding male athlete who has demonstrated hard work, achievement and pride during their high school career to excel both academically and athletically.
Daisye Palmer: The Daisye Palmer Memorial Award is presented to an outstanding female athlete who has demonstrated hard work, achievement and pride during their high school career to excel both academically and athletically.
Students are also eligible to win athletic awards, departmental awards, National Honor Society recognition, Cum Laude Program completers, Kansas State Scholars, and house awards, among others. Additional scholarships that are available for graduating seniors can be found HERE.
