In December of 2015, Meitler received a request from Kapaun Mt. Carmel Catholic High School to assistthe school in developing a comprehensive strategic plan. Kapaun Mt. Carmel Catholic High School is a coeducational, diocesan school, educating students in grades 9 to 12 and operating under the President/Principal model. Enrollment has varied between 880 and 928 students since 2011-12.
The planning process began in February 2016 with a mandate to create a plan that is visionary, mission-focused, comprehensive, realistic, achievable, and integrated, one organized around the four standards contained in the National Standards and Benchmarks of Effective Catholic Schools. The plan goals were created from the quantitative and qualitative data collected throughout the process. Click HERE for a PDF of the strategic plan.
Many individuals and groups were involved in the development of the plan. Focus groups and meetings were conducted with the School Council, local pastors, school parents, students, teachers, academic department heads, assistant principals, the support staff and elementary school principals. Individual interviews were conducted with the Superintendent of Catholic Schools, the President, Principal, the Director of Development, the diocesan High School Finance Director, the Chaplain, the Director of Counseling, the Director of Facilities and Technology and the Athletic Director. The final version of the plan was presented in July 2016.
Key to the development of the strategic plan was the Strategic Planning Committee. This committee included representatives from various constituencies and actively provided leadership, insights, and expertise that ensured the success of the planning process. Its membership included:
